Experienced investors, Oli and his wife had sold the family home and were looking for a “forever” home in the prestige Mosman market. They were keen to buy a large house with views and had their heart set on a small pocket of just four streets.

 

Market conditions:


2022 saw a softening of the property market in many regions, with vendors hesitating to list as prices pulled back. However, the prestige market just went from strength to strength with high net-worth owners being less rate-sensitive and stock levels being at chronic levels.


Why did you engage in our reputable buyers’ agent services?


Oli has bought and sold dozens of properties in Mosman and is on speed dial with the local agents. His day job is all about finding properties with great potential and maximising that potential. So rather than being too busy or inexperienced to hunt down the perfect property Oli was interested to find out what a buyers’ agent could bring to the table. “I always thought that I knew everything that was going on, every house that was for sale, not for sale,” Oli says. “But to my big surprise, Dan brought me quite a lot of things that I hadn’t heard before or that I heard much later, so credit to him, and that’s why I decided to proceed. I was interested to see what additional value he could bring.”

“Dan is a young gun. [The home] exceeded the brief, it was nicer than what we thought we would find, it ticked almost all the boxes: rooms, space, views, orientation, light,” Oli says.


Are you likely to use a buyer’s agent in the future?


Oli is keen to work with Dan again, describing him as a persistent, but not a pushy ambassador for buyers.


“I think if you find the right [agent] it becomes like a kind of extension of yourself. Dan has something special: he has that youth and energy – he reminds me of myself when I was younger.”


Oli likes the fact that Grantham Buyers Agents is a smaller agency with a smaller number of clients, which translates to a higher level of personal service.


“I would rather have a boutique kind of agency that goes to the extra lengths.”
